Mission & Vision
LECAF exists to honor William B. And Helen S. Leonard in their vision for Christian education in Colorado Springs and to ensure the continued ministry of Evangel Christian Academy (ECA). We serve ECA faculty, students, alumni and families through its support and endowment. It is our desire to expand the impact of Christian education in the community, nation and world. We endeavor to be a foundation of excellence in design, integrity, responsiveness and stewardship. It is our heart to honor God in providing a dependable and enduring means to support the ongoing ministry of ECA. We want to be an outstanding example of cooperation of community leaders and resources. Our goal is to further Christian education through the classical approach ECA provides with trusted educational programs that both inspire and enlighten.
History
The Leonard ECA Foundation (LECAF) launched in 2004 and was granted 501(c)3 status by the IRS in 2005. The foundation is a public charity with the purpose of coming alongside the supporting churches as well as the ECA school board for the benefit of Evangel Christian Academy.
Facts
Founded in 1971, ECA serves approximately 350 students on two campuses. The enrollment represents ministry to over 40 area churches. By focusing on academic excellence and Christian character development, ECA consistently strives to educate today’s child for tomorrow’s opportunities. Students become world changers at ECA.

ECA maintains a small class size to allow for more personalized, one-on-one interaction among its students. Christ-centered, theologically based curriculum is presented in a covenantal community atmosphere. A diverse student body represents like-minded families that cherish Christian education, close-knit relationships with a biblical world view.

An ECA education equips a student to serve in ministry or the secular marketplace. The high standards ECA maintains in hiring teachers of excellence results in a faculty who work with parents to present history, literature, math, science, and art from the platform of God’s truth. Parents who enroll their children in ECA find integrity, accountability, and conflict resolution through prayer, forgiveness and love. They find teachers who pray for and with their students – teachers who care.
Governance
The Leonard ECA Foundation is governed by an elected board of directors who serve for a predetermined period of time. Currently serving board members are listed on the Board page.
